Absolutely awesome cafe. Vegan bagel sandwich was delicious. Sesame miso latte was uniquely amazing. The black cocoa cherry latte had no cherry in it that we could taste, but if you like black cocoa you'll still love it. Music didn't quite fit the aesthetic but I'd definitely come back! Oh and the horchata skull cake! Spot on for flavor, very fun!

Really cool place and really good pastry. I tried peach danish and their skull cookies, so delicious. Definitely a go-to spot for anyone who loves good coffee pastry and a welcoming vibe. Highly recommend!

Memento Mori has been on my list since the owners bought my black couch last year, and today I finally made the drive out from Vancouver. What took me so long!? It was well worth the traffic both ways— a gorgeous day out with plenty of people enjoying the outdoor seating. Parking is very tricky in this area, especially on nice days, but I lucked out on 24th Place (a dead end street off Vaughn). This was 11:40am on a Friday and the main streets were packed. Since I don’t cross the river often these days, I splurged. I wasn’t a big fan of the Zinnia (tbf I wasn’t a fan of the last ube matcha drink I got elsewhere so that’s likely a “me” thing), but the Ishtar was SO good! Seriously one of the best matchas I’ve ever had! I should have just gotten that in a 16 ounce. There were quite a few different matchas I want to try in the future, like the Sea Witch and Mystic Rose. If it weren’t for my dietary constraints, I’d try every goth-a-chino flavor too! The horchata skull was good, but nothing to write home about— I got it for the novelty and it paired well with my matchas. The Wednesday toast, on the other hand, was a stand-out! If this place was closer to me, I’d be going back regularly just for the Wednesday toast and a random matcha. The aesthetic is really on point here. I’ve been to a few goth cafes around the country, but none with an open layout like this. It was perfect for the hot weather. Sadly no merch (yet), but I think it’s really cool that they sell art prints and a few other things from various vendors! It feels very community focused. The customer service was outstanding as well. They weren’t super packed, but decently busy, so it surprised me how fast my order came out. The bathroom’s aesthetic was also great! They even have a baby changing table! They had water outside for the dogs as well. Thoughtful, charming, spooky goth cafe right here in Portland. The closest cafe to it I’ve seen aesthetically so far is Nocturnal in Monroe, MI, but their menu isn’t nearly as fun/themed. As an added bonus, they’re only a 6 minute walk from The Freakybuttrue Peculiarium. Easy date idea!

Absolutely SPOOKTACKULAR place to go! The drinks and food are delicious. The atmosphere is perfect for those who appreciate original character and creativity. We loved our 1st round of drinks and food so much we got drinks and snacks to go. Highly recommend making this a destination location in Portland

One of my new favorite coffeeshops in Portland! Everything is vegan, and the drink menu is HUGE. Many different creative options for hot, iced, and frozen coffee & tea drinks. They update their seasonal menu often as well! I don't usually repeat visits, but I've already been here 3 times! They have a couple pastry options, along with a breakfast and rotating lunch sandwich. The staff is super nice, and the decor is very cool! Definitely recommend checking this place out (try the cheez foam!).

Met a friend for coffee, and we were both excited to check this place out! My Grey Goddess tea latte was absolutely fantastic. Blueberry syrup and earl grey tea are so good together! The Wednesday toast with black sesame spread was so yum!! The skull shaped muffins, served on vintage plates are perfect! The decor is fun, and there is a wall of local artist's work for sale. It was clean and comfortable. The baristas were really friendly and helpful. I will be craving that latte for a long time! Definitely go check this place out! I'm going to come back when it's warmer to try out all of the lemonade flavors!

My 8yo vegan son’s review: “There is very yummy food and pastries and there’s a lot of options. There are books for old and little and there’s funny cute things for kids. This is kind of like the Haunted Mansion. And there’s WiFi.” My additions: open and bright space, spooky but tasteful and not overdone decor, themed games to play with, a small selection of sandwiches with two specials, bagels and cream cheese, and very flaky croissants and puff pastry. Skull cakes are delicious. The selection of drinks is truly extensive and cutely named. Dog toys also available. Has a bathroom and a wall of local art for sale.
